Injected into the urban fabric, Restorative Ground is a streetscape installation transforming a parking lane and a sidewalk into a public space that supports a variety of sensory experiences. Designed with WIP Collaborative. The installation draws on ongoing research by WIP Collaborative about inclusive public spaces for populations of all ages and abilities.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, the installation utilizes various conditions to create distinct experiential zones and provide a range of spatial qualities of high and low stimulation through form, materials and textures.
Restorative Ground is a winner of Care for Hudson Square competition organized by Urban Design Forum, Hudson Square Properties and Hudson Square BID.
